- Sheila runs Health Matters with input from other practitioners. She has over 50 years experience of working in the field of cancer care.
- Training initially as a Therapy Radiographer she then took on the role of Mammography Specialist for the UK and Scandinavia, being involved in setting up the Breast Screening Service and introducing quality control.
- She developed many training programmes in partnership with the NHS looking at staff wellbeing, leadership, managing change and patient care.
- After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1991 she combined conventional treatments with exploring complementary approaches to help her physical and emotional recovery.
- Following her personal experience Sheila undertook a 3 year training course in Shiatsu, qualifying in 1995, and then went on to study Acupuncture, Meditation, Feng Shui and Thai massage out in Thailand.
- Sheila set up Health Matters on Anglesey in 1998 as an Holistic Therapy and Training Centre with a focus on wellbeing. After a brief period working back in Sheffield she moved to Clynnog Fawr and now runs her clinical practice from Siop Newydd and Bryn Eisteddfod Country House
- She has been working in the field of advocacy since 2000 with a focus on improving psychological and emotional support for people affected by cancer and raising awareness of the benefits of integrated care.
- As chair of Sheffield Cancer Services Advisory Group she was patient representative on working parties set up by the Supportive and Palliative Care Committee to look at Complementary Therapies and Psychological and Spiritual Support. With other complementary practitioners she set up ICTISA (Integrating Complementary Therapies in the Sheffield Area ) to continue this work and is also involved in cancer care in North Wales.
Sheila is a Graduate Member of the Shiatsu Society, a registered member of Embody Complementary Therapists and Lecturers Association, registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and a fully insured practitioner.
