Complementary Therapy in Cancer Care CPD Course

This is a specialised course which will be of benefit to complementary practitioners and health professionals who are already working in cancer care or those who want to extend their expertise into this field. The course is divided into 3 modules which are stand alone so it is possible to attend all over a period of time or just one of particular interest.

Module 1     Understanding cancer and the patient journey

At the end of this module practitioners will have a clear understanding of different conventional treatments, how different complementary approaches can be integrated and contra indications for therapy. They can expect to gain increased confidence in connecting with people affected by cancer and helping them to relax at all stages of the patient journey using their own particular therapy.

Module 2     Supporting and empowering change

On completing this module practitioners will have gained a deeper insight into working with energy through the 5 elements. They will have increased confidence in their ability to guide, support and empower people affected by cancer to choose and implement appropriate lifestyle changes to meet their individual needs, enhance wellbeing and improve their quality of life.

Module 3     Emotional, Psychological and Spiritual support

The final module explores these issues at a deeper level through case studies and patient stories with a particular focus on stress. Practitioners will be encouraged to consider their own health and wellbeing, as well as the clients, and reach a clearer understanding of the impact of emotions on health. Support is offered to practitioners in finding their own path into working in this field and follow up support, supervision and mentoring are available.
